I’m Craig — Director of Technology at Nine Entertainment. I’ve spent the last eight years building engineering teams that deliver digital products at scale: streaming platforms, news mastheads, mobile apps used by millions of Australians.

I’m starting this blog because writing forces clarity, and there’s a lot I want to think through clearly right now.

The industry I’ve worked in for a decade is changing faster than at any point in my career. AI is reshaping what engineering teams do and how they’re structured. The media sector — my sector — is under more pressure than ever. The skills that got good technology leaders to where they are may not be the same ones that keep them there.

I want to write about that honestly. Not as a thought leader performing insight, but as a practitioner working through real problems in real time.

Posts here will cover:

Engineering culture and what actually makes teams effective

AI transformation — the genuine opportunity and the parts nobody’s talking about

Technology leadership at scale: budgets, strategy, organisational design

The craft of shipping software at speed without burning people out

If any of that sounds useful, stick around.

Every blog starts with a hello world post, so here’s mine.
